Their byrnies were drenched in blood;
and rays shone from their spears.”VALKYRIE:

The Gods called your name
and the seas turned dark;
the earth quaked with power.
You looked up at Olympus
screaming at the gates;
“What will I become?”
The Gods fell silent, then-
with a thunderous roar replied;
“Who are you now?”
[5/6] LEGENDARY CREATURES | NÜ GUI
Nü gui (女鬼) is a vengeful female ghost in Chinese mythology. She is depicted with long hair while wearing a white dress.
In some folklore, this ghost is the spirit of a woman who committed suicide while wearing a red dress. Usually, she met with some injustice when she was alive, such as being wronged or sexually abused and thus she returns to take her revenge. A tabloid story tells of a funeral ceremony where family members of a murder victim dress her in red, hoping that her spirit will return to take revenge on her murderer. The color red symbolizes anger and vengeance in the context of ghosts.
On the other hand, some ancient folk tales tell of beautiful female ghosts who seduce men and absorb their yang essence or sometimes kill them. This type of female ghost is likened to the succubus.

↳ The Children of Nyx
In Hesiod’s Theogony, Nyx, the personification of night, was born of Chaos at the dawn of time, along with five other primordial beings. One of her siblings, Erebos, the personification of darkness, became her consort and together they created Aether and Hemera, respectively the personifications of brightness and day.
On her own, Nyx gave birth to more children: Moros (Destiny), Hypnos and Thanatos (Sleep and Peaceful Death), Momus (Blame), Oizys (Misery), Apate (Deceit), Nemesis (Retribution), Eris (Strife), Philotes (Affection), and Geras (Old Age), as well as the Hesperides (Nymphs of the Evening), the Oneiroi (Dreams), the Moirai (the Fates), and the Keres (female daemons of violent death).
Although her children were mostly scattered around the world, Nyx and the brothers Hypnos and Thanatos were said to inhabit Tartarus, the deepest, darkest part of the underworld. However, Nyx didn’t spend all her time in Tartarus: whenever Hemera arrived, Nyx would leave, ensuring that Day and Night would not occur in the same place at the same time.

HADES FELL IN LOVE WITH PERSEPHONE and wanted her as his bride. His brother Zeus consented to the marriage—or at least refused to oppose it. Yet he warned Hades that Demeter would never approve this coupling, for she would not want her daughter spirited off to a sunless world. At Zeus’s suggestion—or with his tacit understanding—Hades resolved to abduct the maiden. Persephone was gathering flowers one day on a plain in Sicily. Hades suddenly appeared, thundering across the plain in his four-horse chariot. The god swooped down upon Persephone, scooped her up with one arm, and literally and figuratively deflowered her—leaving the plain scattered with blossoms of every color. (x)
Greek Mythology Meme: [1/5] Deified Mortals: Ganymedes
“Ganymedes was a handsome, young Trojan prince who was carried off to heaven by Zeus, or his eagle, to be the god’s lover and cup-bearer of the gods. Ganymedes also received a place amongst the stars as the constellation Aquarius, his ambrosial mixing cup became the Krater, and the eagle Aquila. Ganymedes was frequently represented as the god of homosexual love.”
MYTHOLOGY MEME [4/8] Legendary Creatures
The Nephilim were a race of giants that were produced by the sexual union of the sons of God (presumably fallen angels) and the daughters of men. Translated from the Hebrew texts, “Nephilim” means “fallen ones.”
They were renowned for their strength, prowess, and a great capacity for sinfulness. The Nephilim were gigantic in stature. Their strength was prodigious and their appetites immense.
The wickedness of the Nephilim carried with it a heavy toll. Genesis 6:5 alludes to the corruption that the Nephilim had caused amongst humans and themselves: “The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become…” Their evil rebellion had incurred both the wrath and grief of God. God instructed the angel Gabriel to ignite a civil war among the Nephilim. He also chose Enoch, a righteous man, to inform the fallen angels of the judgment pronounced on them and their children. God did not allow the fallen angels any peace, for they could not lift their eyes to heaven and were later to be chained. The end of the Nephilim came about in the war incited by Gabriel, in which the giants eventually annihilated each other.
