Alfhild was the daughter of the Geatish king Siward; Alf was a Danish prince who wanted her hand in marriage and managed to pass the initial test of strength. She assembled a fleet of many ships with female crews and raided along the coasts of the Baltic sea. Hel is the daughter of Loki and the Jotun Angrboda. Half of her body resembles a living woman while the other resembles a corpse. Her expression is always gloomy and grim. The Aesir feared Hel and her brothers, so they were abducted by the gods and banished. Hel was made the ruler of the realm of the dead, which is also named Hel. The entrance is guarded by Garm, a monstrous hound. Hel’s hall is Eljudnir, home of the dead. Her servants are Ganglati and Ganglot, who move about so slowly it is difficult to tell if they are moving at all. Her plate is called Hunger, and her knife is Famine.

in norse mythology, brisíngamen is the necklace of the goddess of love and beauty freyja. the few ones who have seen it swore it’s the most beautiful artifact they have ever laid eyes upon. the dwarves alfrigg, berling, dvalin and grer are four master-blacksmith brothers who forged brisíngamen. to get it, freyja had to spend a night with each one of them. húsdrápa, a skaldic poem partially preserved in the prose edda, relates the story of the theft of brísingamen by loki. one day when freyja wakes up and finds brísingamen missing, she enlists the help of heimdall to help her search for it. eventually they find the thief, who turns out to be loki who has transformed himself into a seal. heimdall turns into a seal as well and fights loki. after a lengthy battle at singasteinn, heimdall wins and returns brísingamen to freyja.

Bäckahästen (The stream horse) is known for using its ethereal beauty and strength to lure children to climb onto its back and then drag them down into the dark and murky waters of streams and ponds. It does not matter how many children climb onto its back, for it always grows longer. Only by casting a piece of steel between the horse and the water can the spell be broken and the children saved.

Blåkulla is a legendary meadow where the Devil holds his earthly court during a witches’ sabbath that coincident with Easter. The only way of getting there is by flying, usually on a broom or some other enchanted tool. During this sabbath the witches eat and drink and dance for days, stopping only to have sex with each other, the demons and the Devil himself.

Älvor (elves) are beautiful girls or young women with flowers in their hair and insect wings. They can be seen dancing through the mist over meadows during sunset and sunrise, and they will bid passing men to join them. However, if someone should join them they will be enthralled and continue to dance, unable to stop, until they lose their minds.

Kraken is a giant monstrous beast that dwells in the deepest, darkest parts of the ocean. Known for its size and stormlike outbursts of rage, it will strike against any ship that crosses its path. With tentacles the size of tree trunks the Kraken will crush both wooden planks and the bones of man, and no survivors will be left in its wake.
