APOLLO (Greek: Ἀπόλλων, Apollōn (gen.: Ἀπόλλωνος) Apollo is one of the most important and complex deities. Not only is he the God of light and the sun, he is also the God of truth, prophesy, healing, plague, music, and poetry. Son of Zeus and Leto, twin sister to Artemis, Goddess of the hunt. Apollo is the patron God of Delphi because he is an oracular God—a prophetic deity of the Delphic Oracle. Even though he is associated with medicine and healing, Apollo and his sister were known to have spread deadly illness and plague.
